Not always. A failed bulb, damaged connector or wiring fault can cause the same symptom. Have the fault checked first. If the failed LEDs are integrated and not separately serviceable, or the housing is damaged, an assembly replacement may be needed.

How do I avoid ordering the wrong rear lamp section?

Identify whether the damaged lamp is mounted on the body, trunk lid, liftgate or bumper, then confirm left or right. Compare the original part number and connector with the listing. Different sections on the same vehicle can look similar but serve different functions.

Will replacing the lamp clear a dashboard bulb warning?
